Job summary

Michigan Sugar Company has an immediate full-time opportunity for an Instrument Technician at the Bay City Factory. This hourly position is part of the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers, and Grain Millers Local # 263-G.

An Instrument Technician at Michigan Sugar’s Bay City Factory is responsible for Instrumentation maintenance labor to keep the plant efficient, safe and environmentally sound. You will install and maintain instrumentation systems around the factory.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years industrial Instrumentation experience.
• Knowledge in control loops, relay logic, PLC logic and computer-based process control.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work.
• Ability to read and understand electrical and instrumentation prints/drawings.
• Ability to quickly problem solve and make decisions.
• Demonstrated personal leadership and positive can-do attitude.
• Flexible and able to work in fast paced and varying environments.
• Ability to work with others in a team environment.
• Leading the self by demonstrating ethics and integrity, displaying drive and purpose, demonstrated capability to learn, managing self, increasing self-awareness.
• Ability to work shift work.

Responsibilities

• Keep instrumentation systems running to eliminate or minimize down time.
• Upgrade instrumentation systems as required.
• Support operations with process optimization through instrument calibration, reliability and tuning.
