Job summary

Stepan Company is seeking an Instrument Technician I in Winder, GA to calibrate, install, inspect, test, repair, and rebuild measuring and control devices in an explosion-proof environment. You will use digital/analog metering equipment and read prints, P& IDs, and loop diagrams while troubleshooting instrument systems.

Requirements include 5+ years of relevant experience, ability to lift 50 lbs, work at heights, and occasional confined spaces.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant work experience.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and manuals.
• Apply basic algebra and geometry as part of problem solving.
• Lift at least 50 lbs; work from heights of 30 ft; and occasional confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Calibrate, install, inspect, test, repair, and rebuild measuring and control devices per manufacturer specs.
• Operate electronic test equipment like digital/analog multimeters and simulators.
• Troubleshoot instrument systems from prints, P& IDs, loop diagrams, and computer systems.
• Repair/replace equipment in explosion-proof environments.
• Fabricate minor components from drawings using basic shop tools.

Job Description

• Calibrating, installing, inspecting, testing, repairing, and rebuilding measuring and control devices in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications.
• Operating electronic test equipment such as digital and analog multimeter, and analog and digital simulators.
• Effectively work from prints, P & IDs and loop diagrams, and computer systems to troubleshoot instrument system malfunctions and make the vital repairs or corrections.
• Repairing, replacing, and installing equipment in an explosion proof environment.
• Work from drawings and sketches to fabricate minor components for production equipment using basic machine shop equipment.
• Perform minor plumbing and electrical conduit functions (measure, cut, thread, and hang pipe or tubing)
• Perform other duties as assigned by site leadership.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and technical procedure manuals including the National Electric Code is required.
• Able to troubleshoot and resolve problems with instrumentation is required.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Apply Basic algebra and geometry skills is required.
• Lift at least 50 lbs.; work from heights of 30 ft; and on occasion work in confined spaces with supplied air is required.
• Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
• Responsible for after-hour coverage Monday through Sunday every 3rd week
• Available and willing to work overtime as assigned and on an emergency basis, is required
• 5+ years of relevant work experience is required.

Education

A minimum of a Vocational, Certificate, Technical or Associates or higher is required.
