Job summary

Stepan Company in Winder, GA is seeking an Environmental Engineer to join our EHS&S team. You will own and drive the site’s environmental programs, reporting to the EHS&S Manager, and contribute to ongoing compliance, reporting, and continuous improvement of the site’s environmental efforts.

The role requires 2–5+ years in chemical manufacturing, plus strong knowledge of environmental regulations and MS Office proficiency.

Qualifications

  • 2 to 5+ years in chemical manufacturing or related field.
  • Understanding of environmental media (air, water, waste) and controls.
  • Detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office; familiarity with information management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide facility personnel with timely regulatory guidance to maintain compliance.
  • Prepare reports, permits, renewals, and modifications for timely submission.
  • Provide regulatory support for new site construction, renovations, and modifications.
  • Coordinate environmental education and events.
  • Support EHS&S functions within the company.

Environmental Engineer

Location: Winder, GA, US, 30680

Stepan is seeking an Environmental Engineer to join our EHS&S team in Winder, GA. In this role, you will report to the EHS&S Manager. The Environmental Engineer will be responsible for overall compliance of the site’s environmental programs. This includes ownership, development, implementation, reporting, and continuous improvement of the site’s environmental programs and supporting the EHS&S functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide facility personnel with timely technical support and guidance to maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, company performance standards, and site procedures.
  • Ensure reports and permit applications, renewals, and modifications, required by regulation, are generated and contain appropriate and accurate information, are complete and thorough, and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Provide regulatory support and guidance for all new site construction, renovation, demolition, and modifications for timely completion of projects and continued compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Coordinate environmental education and events.
  • Support the mission of the Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security group within the company as an EHS&S Professional.
Qualifications
  • 2 to 5+ years of working in a similar or related field within a chemical manufacturing environment.
  • General understanding and knowledge of environmental media (air, water, waste, etc), infrastructure, and technological controls.
  • Detail oriented. Technical writing and communication skills are required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools. Familiarity with public and private information management systems for permits, reporting, and task management.
  • Strong working knowledge of environmental regulations.
Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
