Austin Industrial is seeking an Instrumentation Technician to install, calibrate, test, troubleshoot, and repair instrument devices in industrial settings. You will read manuals and schematics, interpret P&IDs and loop diagrams, and ensure accurate control system performance.

The role requires 4 years journeyman level experience and NCCER certification with a valid driver's license. Candidates should be able to build control panels, install instrumentation, perform tubing and wiring tasks, and

Instrumentation Technician

Must be able to install, test, calibrate, troubleshoot, overhaul and repair electrical, controlling, indicating and measuring instrument devices to ensure specified operating performance using hand tools, testing and calibrating instruments and equipment and precision measuring instruments. Ability to read and understand manuals, wiring or instrumentation schematics and testing specifications. Must be able to troubleshoot electric motors, install wiring to circuits, etc. Must have some knowledge of electrical schematics and PLCs. Other duties may be assigned.

Installation Experience

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ability to build Control Panels from scratch
• Instrument installation and mounting
• Tubing and impulse line installation
• Junction box terminations
• Basic conduit installation practices

Technical Drawings

• Reading and interpreting P&IDs
• Loop diagrams
• Electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
• Tracing signal paths and understanding control loop functions

Instrumentation

• Calibration of pressure, temperature, flow, and level instruments
• Control valve maintenance and troubleshooting
• Instrument loop checks and signal verification

Troubleshooting

• Diagnosing instrument and control system failures
• Identifying wiring and electrical issues
• Verifying sensor outputs and determining root causes
• Distinguishing between electrical, mechanical, and process-related problems

Control Systems

• Basic PLC knowledge
• Process control loop fundamentals
• HMI operation and navigation

Electrical Skills

• AC/DC fundamentals
• Ohm's Law and electrical measurements
• Multimeter use
• Loop checks
• Motor controls, including starters, relays, contactors, and VFDs
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required For This Position

Education – no minimum education requirements.

Experience – 4 years of Journeyman level experience.
