Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to decontaminate, assemble, inspect and sterilize medical instruments within a clinical setting. You will maintain processing records, assist OR staff, and ensure timely delivery of sterile sets to the operating room.

The role requires a High School Diploma/GED and legal work authorization in the United States; Certified Instrument Tech is preferred. Prior instrument tech experience is a plus, with the ability to lift and carry loads per

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required with legal work authority in the United States.
• Preferred: Certified Instrument Tech and prior instrument tech experience.
• Experience fulfilling orders, packing, assembling and stocking items is a plus.
• Ability to decontaminate, assemble, inspect, package, test, and sterilize medical instruments and/or sets.
• Able to maintain processing records and interpret test results.
• Skilled in using and testing sterilizing equipment and assisting OR staff.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate medical instruments and materials by disassembling and cleaning by hand and/or machine.
• Assemble, package, inspect, test, and reassemble instruments and sets.
• Place sets in containers or wrapping and load transport carts with prepared sets.
• Maintain records of loads and items removed from the department for processing.
• Transport loads to and from CSS and prepare proper storage of instruments and equipment.
• Use and test sterilizing equipment, including tests for autoclaves and sterilizers.
• Record and interpret test results.
• Assist Operating Room staff by locating needed supplies and equipment.
• Serve the OR’s sterile instrument and equipment needs and respond to urgent requests.
• Report directly to the Sterile Processing Supervisor.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job description

• Decontaminate medical instruments and materials by disassembling and cleaning by hand and/or machine
• Assemble, package, inspect, test, and reassemble instruments and sets
• Place sets in proper containers or wrapping and load/transport carts with prepared sets

• Record and accurately interpret test results
• Assist Operating Room staff by locating needed supplies and equipment
• Serve the OR’s sterile instrument and equipment needs and respond to urgent requests
• Report directly to the Sterile Processing Supervisor
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED
• Persons must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
• Preferred: Certified Instrument Tech
• Preferred: Work experience as an Instrument Tech
• Preferred: Experience fulfilling orders/requests (packing, assembling & stocking items)
• Ability to decontaminate, assemble, inspect, package, test, and sterilize medical instruments and/or sets
• Ability to maintain processing records and accurately interpret test results
• Ability to use and test sterilizing equipment
• Ability to assist Operating Room staff with supplies and equipment
• Ability to work inside a medical facility and perform the listed physical activities, including standing and lifting/carrying 11–25 lbs. or more and pushing/pulling 100 lbs. or more
