Job summary

Summa Health System Central Processing/Supply in Akron, OH, seeks an Instrument Processing Tech II. You will provide clean and sterile supplies, decontaminate, prepare, sterilize, store and distribute surgical instruments under supervision.

Role emphasizes infection control, safety, teamwork and the ability to stand for extended periods while maintaining quality and accuracy.

Qualifications

• High school level course work in English grammar and basic mathematics.
• Ability to read and write English and follow oral and written instructions.
• Current HSPA or CRCST Certification or minimum 1 year experience with knowledge of cleaning, disinfection and sterilization techniques and be able to obtain certification within six months of hire date.
• Ability to work well within a team environment and be self-directed.
• Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and lift 20–50 pounds.

Full-Time / Second Shift / 3p-11:30p / Every Third Weekend/ One Winter and One Summer Holiday

Job Summary

Provides clean and sterile supplies and equipment through decontamination, preparation, sterilization, storage and distribution of surgical instruments and equipment utilizing infection control and safety practices during all phases of the process under the direction of a Unit Manager/Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

Formal Education Required:

• a. High school level course work in English grammar and basic mathematic
• b. Ability to read and write English and follow oral and written instructions

Experience and Training Required

• a. Current HSPA or CRCST Certification or minimum 1year experience with knowledge of cleaning, disinfection and sterilization techniques and be able to obtain certification within six months of hire date.

Level of Physical Demands

• a. Medium: Exerts 20-50 pounds of force occasionally and/or ten to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force continuously to move objects.
• b. Physical working environment may include, but not limited to, any of the following hazards: high pressure steam, chemical, electrical, mechanical, bio-waste.
• c. Environmental conditions may include, but not be limited to, variations in temperature, noise, odors, blood & body fluids, multi-stimuli, etc.
