Job summary

Southern Industrial Constructors, Inc. seeks an Instrument Fitter for a Midland, NC project. Benefits/Paid Time Off available after 3 months.

Responsibilities include planning layout, fabricating and installing instruments, wiring, and DCS integrations. Requires strong pneumatics and electronics knowledge, plus reading blueprints and P&IDs. Safety training and proper PPE are mandatory throughout the assignment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4+ years of experience.
• Must complete safety and general job training as required by SIC.
• Observe SIC and Customer safety and quality processes and procedures at all times.

Job Summary

Southern Industrial Constructors, Inc. seeks an Instrument Fitter for a project in Midland, NC. Hired candidates will be considered for Benefits/Paid Time Off after 3-months.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Plans layout, fabricates, assembles, repairs and installs instruments, both electronic and pneumatic, including primary piping, tubing and other instrument needs.

• Take measurements, fabricates and installs pipe tubing or conduit for the installation of air or process lines for instrument controls using port-a-band, tubing cutters and tubing benders
• Installs instruments, instrument stands and control wiring to valves and strokes valves to verify operation.
• Installation and calibration of recorders, alarms, switches and other devices.
• Installation and activation of DCS systems.
• Helps coordinate movement of materials & equipment to work locations and sets up a work site.
• Completes and reviews records, maintains tools and equipment, and performs various cleanup activities.
• Comprehensive knowledge of pneumatics, electronics and electricity.
• Observes and follows all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment.
• Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules.
• Read ISO's, Blueprints, P&ID's
• Ability to read & interpret instructions, plan, document and perform work activities independently.
• Ability to solve theories such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4+ years of experience.
• Skilled in both written and verbal communication.
• Complete all Safety and general job training as required by SIC.
• Observe SIC and Customer safety and quality processes and procedures at all times.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to effectively use all required PPE equipment and lift up to fifty pounds.
• Conditions include working in office, shop, busy traffic areas, warehouses, and undeveloped properties, with frequent exposure to dirt, dust, grease, oil, vibrations, and adverse weather conditions.
• Must be able to safely access all areas of property, buildings, structures, wharves, rooftops and other elevated positions, as well as, confined spaces.
• Strenuous physical demands are required to safely perform the essential functions associated with this position.
• Must be able to safely operate all involved equipment and tools.
• Must be capable of standing for long periods of time, bending consistently, working in confined spaces with limited access, on ladders, in personnel lifts, in workboats, and working in awkward body positions.
