Job summary

LCMC Health is seeking an Instrument Equipment Technician to support infection control and safe patient care in our healthcare team. You will decontaminate, sterilize, and assemble surgical instruments and operating room equipment, ensuring safety standards are met.

In addition to meticulous attention to detail, you will monitor equipment condition, follow aseptic techniques, and participate in maintaining instrument inventories and infection control policies across departments.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent OR 2 years of work experience in equipment sterilization or Instrument or Operating Room Aide or Tech.
• Knowledge of sanitary, infection control, and safety standards to perform assignments within safety parameters.
• Experience with aseptic technique, decontamination methods, sterilization processes and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Identify surgical instrumentation, equipment, and supplies: clean, sterilize, and store properly.
• Demonstrate knowledge of sanitary, infection control, and safety standards.
• Demonstrate knowledge of aseptic technique, decontamination methods, sterilization process, testing and equipment.
• Operate sterilization equipment, decontaminate, assemble and wrap instruments, supplies, and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, quality assurance, safety and infection control practices.
• Assess equipment and instruments needed for all departments and maintain supplies.
• Replace or repair instruments or equipment that are not working.
• Follow standard precautions in decontamination and sterilization areas.
• Process endoscopes, scopes and/or probes.

Your Everyday

• Identify surgical instrumentation, equipment, and supplies: clean, sterilize, and store properly.

• Replace or repair instruments or equipment that are not working.
• Follow proper standard precautions while in decontamination and sterilization areas.
• Process endoscopes, scopes and/or probes.

The Must-Haves

Minimum

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent OR 2 years of work experience in equipment sterilization or Instrument or Operating Room Aide or Tech

Preferred

• Prior experience highly preferred
