Job summary

LCMC Health in New Orleans, LA is seeking a Certified Instrument Equipment Technician to join our sterile processing team. You will identify, clean, sterilize, decontaminate and assemble surgical instruments and OR equipment, ensuring aseptic technique and compliance with infection control standards.

Responsibilities

• Identify surgical instrumentation and equipment and ensure they are clean, sterilized and stored properly.
• Apply sanitary, infection control and safety standards in all tasks.
• Execute aseptic technique, decontamination, sterilization, testing and equipment procedures.
• Operate sterilization equipment and decontaminate, assemble and wrap instruments and supplies.
• Verify equipment condition, replace or repair non-working items and follow standard precautions.
• Process endoscopes, scopes and probes.

Your Everyday

• Identify surgical instrumentation, equipment, and supplies: clean, sterilize, and store properly.
• Demonstrate knowledge of applicable sanitary, infection control, and safety standards to perform all assignments within the safety parameters.
• Demonstrate knowledge of aseptic technique, decontamination methods, sterilization process, testing and equipment.
• Operate sterilization equipment, decontaminate, assemble and wrap appropriate instruments, supplies, and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with hospital established policies, quality assurance, safety and infection control policies and practices.
• Assess appropriate equipment and instruments needed for all departments and ensure all supplies are available and in working condition.
• Replace or repair instruments or equipment that are not working.
• Follow proper standard precautions while in decontamination and sterilization areas.
• Process endoscopes, scopes and/or probes.

• Minimum: High School Diploma / GED or equivalent CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association or CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution)
• WORK SHIFT: Evenings (United States of America)
