Qualifications

  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to train, coach, and mentor others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Job description

Sparks, MD (Onsite)

We are seeking an experienced Senior Instrument Engineering Technician to provide technical support for manufacturing operations involving complex instruments and sub-assemblies. This role will work closely with Process Engineering and Manufacturing teams to support assembly, testing, troubleshooting, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the manufacturing process owner for assigned production lines, supporting Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost objectives.
  • Assemble, test, troubleshoot, and repair complex instruments and sub-assemblies.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues involving electronic circuits, PCBs, mechanical systems, software, and integrated electromechanical systems.
  • Support manufacturing and process engineering activities, including deviations, quality notifications, rework documentation, and out-of-tolerance investigations.
  • Partner with engineers to resolve design and manufacturing challenges.
  • Train and mentor production associates on assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and repair procedures.
  • Conduct validations, feasibility testing, and support design of experiments (DOE).
  • Develop, revise, verify, and maintain manufacturing procedures and work instructions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support root cause investigations.
  • Assist in meeting production schedules and weekly manufacturing targets.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Electronics, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Robotics, or a related technical field.
  • Experience assembling, testing, and troubleshooting complex electromechanical instruments.
  • Strong knowledge of electronic circuits, PCB troubleshooting, and mechanical systems.
  • Experience performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes, quality systems, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to train, coach, and mentor others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience using oscilloscopes, multimeters, OEM diagnostic software, torque tools, gauges, and other testing equipment.
  • Experience supporting validation activities and process improvements.
  • Knowledge of GMP-regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Robotics or automation experience.
