Job summary

Wood PLC is seeking an Instrument and Electrical Design Coordinator for chemical manufacturing facilities. The role oversees design work supporting major capital projects and coordinates electrical/instrumentation design between project teams and contractors.

You will work with MV/LV systems, instrument/control wiring, and detailed diagrams, while ensuring safety and NEC compliance. 40+ hours/week with field site access and PPE required.

Qualifications

• 20+ years industrial experience in design for chemical manufacturing facilities.
• Highly experienced with Instrument & Electrical design and related standards.
• Experience in design of instrumentation and electrical systems including schematics, wiring diagrams, and plan drawings.
• Extensive knowledge of I/O detail wiring and termination; instrument data sheets.
• Extensive knowledge of electrical equipment selection in industrial classified areas.
• Field/ outdoor design experience and ability to access job sites in PPE.
• Proficiency with Bentley MicroStation; Descartes and ProjectWise are a plus.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Outlook; SAP is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Meet or exceed safety standards for company and client.
• Monitor projects during construction to ensure quality of installation and NEC code compliance.
• Coordinate design efforts of designers across offices and in the field.
• Read and interpret preliminary design packages and scope documents.
• Provide electrical and instrumentation design coordination between project manager and contractors.
• Understand MV/LV electrical designs and instrument/control wiring.
• Oversee instrument/installation design for control systems and PLC/DCS wiring.
• Develop instrument loops, wiring diagrams, schematics, and cable routing drawings.
• Coordinate with engineers, plant personnel, and contractors for project success.
• Provide material takeoffs and labor estimates with field teams.
• Report project progress to clients and team members; ensure material delivery to site.
