Qualifications

Job description

  • Pay or shift range: $18 USD to $20 USD The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons.
Description

The Instrument Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling, testing, and evaluating process control instrumentation using hand tools, power tools, pneumatic testing equipment, and electronic power supplies.

This hands-on position involves mechanical and electronic assembly, including wiring, soldering electronic components, testing small motors, and pre-testing components prior to final assembly. Technicians work from OEM manuals, specifications, dimensional drawings, and assembly instructions to ensure products are assembled accurately and meet required quality standards.

Work is primarily performed at a bench and includes periods of sitting, standing, walking, and lifting.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic process control instrumentation according to established specifications and procedures.
  • Complete assigned work orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, pneumatic testing equipment, and electronic power supplies during assembly and testing.
  • Perform component pre-testing prior to assembly when required.
  • Complete basic electronic assembly, including wiring and soldering electronic components.
  • Test and evaluate assembled instruments to verify conformance with specifications before final calibration by Technical Shop personnel.
  • Read and follow OEM manuals, dimensional drawings, specifications, and assembly instructions.
  • Identify and communicate assembly issues, defects, or non-conforming components.
  • Maintain an organized, safe, and efficient work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written assembly instructions and basic technical documentation.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort working with hand and power tools.
  • Ability to perform detailed, hands-on assembly work.
  • Willingness and ability to learn process control instrumentation and testing procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Experience & Skills

  • Previous experience in mechanical, electrical, electronic, instrumentation, manufacturing, or equipment assembly is preferred.
  • Experience with wiring, soldering, pneumatic equipment, or electronic components is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic assembly or component issues.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform detailed assembly work while sitting or standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to regularly use hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive hand and arm movements as required.
  • Ability to work occasional overtime based on business and production needs.
