Job Summary

Reporting to the campus department instructional leader,instructors provide assistance to students in their learningprocess by utilizing all appropriate college resources, materials,facilities, and educational technologies available to complementthe teaching and learning process providing a direct impact tostudent success.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Accepts and teaches classes based on varied schedules andmodalities as assigned by designated supervisor (may include onlineor Weekend College)
  • Accommodates student needs and external stakeholders'expectations of the College
  • Aids in the development of curricula, including individual coursesyllabi as assigned
  • Prepares and delivers instruction to students following theCollege Master Syllabus using the approved learning managementsystem
  • Works with colleagues to select appropriate textbooks fordepartmental adoptions, and abides by departmental decisions fortextbooks
  • Communicates regularly with students and college officials,including responding to e-mails, calls, and requests formeetings
  • Independently pursues activities to enhance subject matterexpertise, skills in various modes of instruction, and knowledge oflearning
  • Prepares assignments and assessments to assure achievement oflearning outcomes
  • Designs and maintains an active classroom environment conduciveto student learning and success
  • Maintains student attendance records weekly and certifies studentenrollments by the established deadline
  • Evaluates student performance and learning in accordance withdiscipline and department standards
  • Provides regular and timely evaluation feedback to students,posts grades in the learning management system weekly, and submitsfinal grades by the established deadline
  • Assigns grades consistent with course requirements
  • Assists in College's commitment to assessing student learningoutcomes and program learning outcomes and to achievinginstitutional performance measures
  • Accepts assignments as necessary at other sites such as for dualcredit courses

Required Minimum Qualifications
  1. Associate degree or higher*
    *Degree must be from a regionally accredited college or university
  2. Three (3) years of non-teaching work experience in welding
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least one (1) years' working experience in the discipline /teaching area
  • At least one (1) years' experience teaching a class orfacilitating training
  • At least one (1) years' teaching experience utilizing activelearning techniques, service learning and innovativetechnology
  • At least one (1) year's experience teaching in Dual Credit andEarly College High School programs
