Instructor, Water & Waste Water Treatment (CE) Adjunct

SUMMARY

Provide the expertise and knowledge that support the college curriculum and programs. Establish courses following accepted higher education standards, teach students using a variety of effective methodologies, provide engagement, and support activities that encourage student learning. The role of the Instructional Faculty encompasses teaching and learning, academic advising, professional development and institutional and community service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaching: Demonstrate skill and knowledge in teaching the discipline; continuously improve instruction through innovative methodologies; develop and use syllabi; plan and use diverse teaching methods; evaluate and teach students; keep records; review textbooks; teach at varied times/locations, including dual credit sections; teach in face‑to‑face, hybrid, online formats.

Equipment and Facilities: Use equipment responsibly, assist in maintenance of instructional laboratories, demonstrate competence and interest in technology, submit grades and attendance records on time.

Academic Advising: Maintain professional relationships, provide office hours and communication, advise students, present academic programs and opportunities, collaborate with chair/director on advising activities.

Professional Development: Establish annual objectives, keep pace with discipline developments, learn new technologies, participate in evaluation processes.

Institutional and Community Service: Work collaboratively with engineering technology programs, support ABET accreditation, coordinate conferences and outreach, participate in institutional service activities, adhere to policies, contribute to program reviews, articulate courses with secondary/post‑secondary institutions.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above.

EDUCATION

• Bachelor’s Degree required
• A valid TCEQ‑issued occupational license Class A or B

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on work experience related to TCEQ training content
• Minimum 60 hours of classroom instructional experience
• Experience working for a Public Water System, Domestic Wastewater Treatment Facility, or Collection System (WW)
• Experience operating, maintaining, and installing equipment such as pumps, motors, valves, hydrants, lift stations, wells, disinfection equipment, etc.
• Experience with facilities/systems (e.g., activated sludge, trickling filter, RBC, MBR, IFAS, distribution, groundwater, collection, surface water)
• Experience with testing (e.g., pH, turbidity, COD, DO, TOC, TSS, bacteria, jar, taste, odor, hardness, chlorine, ammonia)
