Responsibilities:

  1. Promote and follow safe working practices and take necessary actions to prevent injuries and illnesses to staff, clients, visitors, and volunteers.
  2. Perform assigned tasks to ensure continuous quality improvement.
  3. Comply with responsibilities outlined in Lifesteps' Emergency Preparedness and Universal Precaution Plans.
  4. Maintain confidentiality policies and procedures, including HIPAA.
  5. Attend and participate in staff meetings, conferences, staff development training, etc., during and outside regular hours.
  6. Assist with transportation and escort clients as appropriate.
  7. Report observations of participants during transportation for professional assessment.
  8. Provide safe transportation, adhering to all safety rules and exercising caution during inclement weather.
  9. Assist participants with seat belts and safety devices as needed.
  10. Provide standby or hands-on assistance to passengers when needed.
  11. Escort participants to the entrance of assigned locations, leaving them only when prior arrangements are made.
  12. Refuel vehicles and coordinate or report needed repairs.
  13. Maintain required record keeping.

Job Requirements:

  1. High school diploma/GED or completion of 8th grade with 1 year of experience working with the disabled.
  2. 18 years of age or older.
  3. Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  4. Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  5. Assist Program Instructor with program activities, including escorting participants, ensuring safety, implementing goal plans, attending training, and assisting in crisis intervention.
  6. Assume responsibility in the instructor's absence.
  7. Observe, report, and document client performance and behavior plans.
  8. Perform routine housekeeping duties.
