Full-time members of the faculty are professional educators whohave the primary responsibility of fulfilling the Colleges’mission, vision, values, strategic plan, President’s & Board ofTrustees’ charges and educational philosophy, and primary goal ofproviding a quality education for all students attending theCollege. Faculty members are classified according to the ranks ofInstructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, andProfessor. Faculty members are subject to Board policies, includingacademic freedom, and are also bound by its accompanyingresponsibilities. The relationship of the faculty member to thestudent is one of leader, teacher, adviser, mentor, and facilitatorof learning. This position is intended to be in respiratory careinstruction.
Instruction & Student Learning
- Teaches assigned courses as scheduled and assumes primaryresponsibility for and exercises oversight of the curriculum inconjunction with the Department’s policies, ensuring both the rigorof programs and the quality of instruction.
- Designs curriculum embracing diversity, in all forms, to fostertalent in students while modeling inclusive teaching strategies,with an understanding of the socio-cultural issues of traditionallyunderrepresented groups. Considers individual differences ofstudents in order to design and support a range of appropriatelearning activities.
- Participates in the identification of students with academic orother needs and responds by utilizing an appropriate resource. Usestechnology in a manner appropriate to the nature and objectives ofcourses and programs and communicates clearly to students theexpectations concerning the use of such technology. Keeps accurateand appropriate records in accordance with the Faculty Handbook anddepartmental policies.
- Maintains attendance records, determines and submits gradestimely, and in accordance with established policies and proceduresof the College, and communicates progress feedback as well as otherrelevant information to students throughout the semester.
- Create and maintain accurate syllabi that incorporatedepartmental, college, cross-college, and instructor requirements.Participates in the selection of appropriate materials to supportcourse curriculum in accordance with the College’s guidelines.
- Conducts classes punctually and in accordance with theprescribed meeting schedule. Employs and assists in the design anddevelopment of appropriate assessment techniques to measurestudents’ performance in achieving course goals and objectives. Bea facilitator of learning in a virtual environment.
Student Engagement & Advisement
- Creates a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages activeand collaborative learning, student effort, academic challenge,student and faculty interaction, and support for learners.Maintains posted office hours in accordance with departmental andpolicies of the College. Uses technology to assist in communicationwith students. Encourages a sense of community among students forlearning both inside and outside the classroom.
- Advises potential or current students within the disciplineabout the program, career, or transfer options available to assistwith degree completion. Refers students to appropriate student andacademic support services available at the College or in thecommunity.
Continuous Improvement
- Promotes continual improvement as part of the cycle of teachingand learning by: assisting, as appropriate, in the maintenance ofinstructional materials and laboratory facilities; contributing, asappropriate, to the development, selection, and improvement ofinstructional materials, laboratories, and other instructionalfacilities; providing guidance in the development, maintenance, anddesign of course description, course outlines, and syllabi;recommending modifications to the curriculum and participating inthe design of new curricula.
- Completes all mandatory performance evaluation measures withinspecified time limits and participates in all required training bythe College. Shares best practices with colleagues in formal orinformal settings. Participates in instructional, departmental, orinstitutional research to improve educational effectiveness.
- Evaluates teaching and assessment practices to continueimproving them. Provides feedback, as appropriate, regarding thegeneral operations of the department, division and the College.Participates, as appropriate, in the interviewing, selection, andorientation processes of department faculty and staff. Providesadvice and/or assistance to faculty within the department,division, or College. Attends faculty meetings as called by thePresident, Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dean orDepartment Chairperson; and participates, as appropriate, ondepartmental and divisional committees.
Professional Development
- Maintains a personal portfolio for tenure and promotion reviewand other career-related needs. Employs student, administrative andself-appraisals to establish goals and objectives for professionaldevelopment, and participates in professional developmentactivities.
- Contributes, as appropriate, to the planning, evaluation,and/or presentation of college professional development programs.Maintains required professional credentials, licensing, andcontinuing education hours as disciplinary standards dictate.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in education or a health-related major.
- Four (4) years as a registered respiratory technician(RTT).
- Two (2) years of clinical experience and 2 years of teaching,training, or being a preceptor.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Ohio Respiratory Therapy (RT) licensure.
- Active credentials with National Board of Respiratory Care(NBRC).
- Maintain BLS certification (bi-annual renew).

- 9-Month Instructor Salary: $54,033 - $60,516.96
Optional Summer Semester (Full load): $17,481.26 - $19,579.02
