Work Schedule

FT – 12 Month Faculty Position

Salary Range

Instructor Rank - $48,000 to $63,142

Assistant Professor Rank $49,637 to $67,448 (Must meet academicpreparation, and/or equated experience, or doctorate degree to be hired at the Assistant Professor rank.)

This position is responsible for the development and generalcoordination of aviation programs and will teach and assist in thedevelopment of courses in the aviation programs. Responsible forteaching courses in the program. Teaching responsibilities consistof flight-related courses such as private, instrument, commercial,multi-engine, and Flight Instructor ground schools, and otheraviation courses. Teaching through a variety of modalities,including face-to-face, online, and remote are required.Coordinates, as necessary, with the LCCC Chief Flight Instructorfor program operation. This faculty reports directly to the Dean ofBusiness, Education, Legal Studies, and Aviation.

Position is based at Lehigh Valley International Airport off campus site.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Recommends changes to the instructional programs and curriculaas required.
  • Keeps and submits appropriate academic records.
  • Maintains academic records in accordance with college andTransportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements.
  • Maintains instructional effectiveness by ongoingself-evaluation and incorporating current developments ininstructional and learning strategies.
  • Teaches courses in accordance with the master course outline,Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved curriculum, andwithin the schedule of classes.
  • Assists librarians in keeping the college collections andservices current.
  • Assists the college in keeping technology, facilities, andequipment current.
  • Plans with the assistance of the dean to ensure availability ofsupplies, textbooks, and classroom equipment requisite to thesuccessful teaching of assigned classes.
  • Maintains regular office hours, as approved by the dean, forconsultation with students.
  • Serves as faculty advisor to student organizations(voluntary).
  • Serves as a faculty advisor to students in their program ofstudy.
  • Recruits students for programs of study.
  • Participates in academic audits, assessment, and othercompliance processes.
  • Assists in preparation of budgets for submission to thedean.
  • Assists in preparation of academic schedules for submission toAcademic Services.
  • Serves on college committees and advisory boards.
  • Where appropriate, makes recommendations to the dean orassociate dean on staffing courses.
  • Works with dean and fellow faculty including adjuncts tomaintain academic standards and integrity.
  • Coordinates with the Chief Flight Instructor in the hiring ofadjunct instructors serving as flight instructors or groundinstructors for Part 141 pilot certification courses.
  • Works with new faculty in the area.
  • Actively participates in faculty development activities.
  • In addition to college-sponsored development activities,maintains professional development and stays current in his/herfield of study.
  • Maintains instructional/operational currency and familiaritywith the Advanced Aviation Training Devices, smart boards and otherteaching resources.
  • Works with counselors, advisors, and other college staff inresponding to student needs.
  • Maintains memberships in appropriate professionalorganizations.
  • Shares the responsibility for establishing and maintaining acollege environment that values people.
  • Attends and participates in faculty meetings, Admission OpenHouses, and other college recruitment events.
  • Keeps informed on procedures to be followed in case ofemergencies.
  • Coordinates and leads Advisory Committee.
  • Contributes to the college’s accreditation efforts, includingthe overall Middle States accreditation and any program specificaccreditation standards.
  • Undertakes specialized projects or perform any duties, whichmay from time-to-time be assigned by the vice president, dean orassociate academic dean.
Required Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of highereducation.
Certifications
  • Must meet the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulationsfor Instructor as prescribed under Part 141.33(a)(3) of the FAAregulations.
  • Certified Flight Instructor/Certified FlightInstructor-Instrument (CFI/CFII) and Multi engine Instructor (MEI)or Basic Ground Instructor (BGI), Instrument Ground Instructor(IGI) and Advanced Ground Instructor (AGI).
  • Act 153 Clearances (Act 34 PA Criminal Background, Act 151 PAChild Abuse History, Act 114 FBI Clearance Fingerprinting)
  • Must possess a minimum of one FAA type rating in anairplane.
Work Experience
  • Must have flight instructor experience.
  • Competency with FAR Part 25, aircraft systems, engines andstructures.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Familiarity with mission of a comprehensive communitycollege.
  • Must possess a high level of the following work skills andbehaviors: teamwork/cooperation, initiative, customer service, andcommitment to continuous professional growth in skills andknowledge.
PREFERRED
  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution of highereducation.
  • Teaching experience in a community college environment ispreferred, as well as experience working with diversepopulations.
  • Teaching experience using online learning management systems,CANVAS preferred.

  • Ability to effectively communicate, perceive, and exchangeinformation with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Operate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls usinghands, arms, or adaptive equipment.
  • Ability to safely lift, transport, or move objects up to 15 lbsregularly and up to 25 lbs occasionally.
  • Vision capabilities sufficient to view screens, read printedmaterials, and observe work environments (with or without assistivedevices).
  • Must meet any FAA physical requirements.
