South Plains College seeks an Instructor in Vocational Nursing to provide classroom and clinical instruction in nursing. The Instructor in Vocational Nursing provides classroom and clinical instruction in the field of Nursing at South Plains College. This is a 12-month, tenure-track position.
Those requirements outlined in the South Plains College Faculty Handbook for instructors, as well as those special requirements related to the Vocational Nursing Program.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be competent in the principles and practices of vocational nursing and be able to integrate them into the art of teaching, both in the classroom and clinical setting. The individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Qualifications
Required: Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Texas. Must have a minimum of 3 years recent experience in teaching and/or the clinical setting. Show evidence of teaching abilities and maintaining current knowledge, clinical expertise, and safety in the subject area of teaching responsibility.
Preferred: Associate Degree in Nursing or higher.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret health information, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations, and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or schedule form.
