Tarrant County College District (TCCD) invites applications for an Instructor, Nursing at the Trinity River Campus. This FT - Regular position reports to the TR Nursing department and supports student success using college resources and educational technologies.

The role requires a Master’s in Nursing (or higher) with an TX RN license and CPR certification. Successful candidates will have 3+ years of clinical nursing in non-teaching roles and be prepared to teach in diverse modalities.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in Nursing is required.
  • Current Texas RN license is required.
  • CPR certification through American Heart Association is required.
  • Minimum of three years of clinical nursing experience in a non-teaching role.
  • Alternative: Master’s in a discipline other than Nursing with a nursing degree plus six grad hours, Texas RN license, CPR, and 3 years experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teach classes based on varied schedules and modalities (including online or Weekend College).
  • Accommodate student needs and expectations of the College.
  • Assist in curricula development and course syllabi.
  • Deliver instruction using the Master Syllabus and LMS.
  • Select textbooks in collaboration with department and adhere to decisions.
  • Communicate with students and college staff regularly (emails, calls, meetings).
  • Pursue activities to enhance subject matter expertise and teaching methods.
  • Prepare assignments and assessments to achieve learning outcomes.

Job Summary:

Reporting to the campus department instructional leader, instructors provide assistance to students in their learning process by utilizing all appropriate college resources, materials, facilities, and educational technologies available to complement the teaching and learning process providing a direct impact to student success.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Accepts and teaches classes based on varied schedules and modalities as assigned by designated supervisor (may include online or Weekend College)
  • Accommodates student needs and external stakeholders' expectations of the College
  • Aids in the development of curricula, including individual course syllabi as assigned
  • Prepares and delivers instruction to students following the College Master Syllabus using the approved learning management system
  • Works with colleagues to select appropriate textbooks for departmental adoptions, and abides by departmental decisions for textbooks
  • Communicates regularly with students and college officials, including responding to e-mails, calls, and requests for meetings
  • Independently pursues activities to enhance subject matter expertise, skills in various modes of instruction, and knowledge of learning
  • Prepares assignments and assessments to assure achievement of learning outcomes
  • Designs and maintains an active classroom environment conducive to student learning and success
  • Maintains student attendance records weekly and certifies student enrollments by the established deadline
  • Evaluates student performance and learning in accordance with discipline and department standards
  • Provides regular and timely evaluation feedback to students, posts grades in the learning management system weekly, and submits final grades by the established deadline
  • Assigns grades consistent with course requirements
  • Assists in College's commitment to assessing student learning outcomes and program learning outcomes and to achieving institutional performance measures
  • Accepts assignments as necessary at other sites such as for dual credit courses

  • Complete all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
  • Attends the workplace regularly and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
  • Adheres to College policies and procedures

Required Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Master’s degree or higher* in Nursing
  2. Current Texas RN license
  3. Current CPR certification through American Heart Association
  4. Minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience in a non-teaching role.

OR

  1. Master’s degree or higher* in a discipline other than Nursing
  2. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and at least six (6) graduate semester hours in Nursing
  3. Current TX RN license
  4. Current CPR Certification through American Heart Association
  5. Minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience in a non-teaching role

*Degree must be from a regionally accredited college or university

Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least one (1) year's work experience in the discipline / teaching area
  • At least one (1) year's experience teaching a class or facilitating training
  • At least one (1) year's teaching experience utilizing active learning techniques, service learning and innovative technology
  • At least one (1) year's experience teaching in Dual Credit and Early College High School programs
  • At least one (1) year's experience teaching in pre-licensure nursing programs (Associate Degree in Nursing or diploma), or experience as a preceptor, trainer, or clinical educator
