Job summary

Train America in Austin, TX is seeking a part-time Instructor (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing) to lead a few courses per year at our Del Valle training center. You bring 5 years of trades experience and a Journeyman or Master license in your field.

EPA 608 certification is required. You will inspire students, facilitate elearning and simulations, and supervise hands-on lab activities, teaching about four bootcamps annually.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Facilities/Commercial Maintenance or Industrial Maintenance.
• License or certification in your trade where Texas requires one (Journeyman or Master).
• EPA 608 certification for refrigerant work.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Must be able to commute to Del Valle center and teach 4 bootcamps per year.

Instructor (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing)

Earn more and give back as a part-time instructor doing a few courses per year: 1 Saturday + 5 Weeknights = 1 Course. Train America employs journeyman and master level tradespeople as Instructors (we call them Guides) to train the next generation of HVACR, electrical, plumbing and maintenance technicians at our training centers embedded at distribution partner locations.

Your Responsibilities as an Instructor:

• Inspire a group of students as their instructor.
• Facilitate elearning and simulations for students to learn the theories.
• Facilitate and oversee hands-on activities in the lab.

Requirements and what we are looking for:

• 5 years of experience working in one of the following trades: HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Facilities/Commercial Maintenance, Industrial Maintenance
• A license or certification in your trade where Texas requires one, in good standing - for example a Journeyman or Master license, or a Journeyman or Master Plumber license.
• EPA 608 for refrigerant work.
• Professional communication, interpersonal and team-building skills.
• Ability to commute to the Del Valle training center and teach at least 4 bootcamps per year.
