Job summary

Doña Ana Community College seeks an Instructor for HVAC to teach both theory and hands-on HVAC/R courses. The role involves developing and updating curricula in collaboration with the department and may include online instruction.

You will advise students, participate in committees, and support placement and professional development activities. The position requires an Associate’s in HVAC/R or related experience, a minimum of three years in HVAC/R, and EPA 608 certification.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in HVAC/R or relevant work experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience as a HVAC/R Technician.
  • EPA Section 608 Universal Certification.
  • Bachelor's Degree in HVAC/R or related field preferred.
  • Two years full-time equivalent teaching experience in a community college or post-secondary institution preferred.
  • Journeyman certification in refrigeration, gas, and sheet metal preferred.
  • Other national certifications in HVAC/R preferred.
  • Experience with media, evolving instructional technologies, and distance learning programs and delivery preferred.
  • Background or experience using computer technology and the ability to use spreadsheet, word processing, presentation, and database software.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching and relating to students from diverse academic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills working with students, colleagues, staff, supervisors, and the community.
  • Bilingual competence in Spanish and English will be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 30 credit hours over fall and spring semesters.
  • Teaching assignment may include day, evenings, weekends, and/or multiple campus locations.
  • Theory and hands-on teaching of all HVAC/R related subjects.
  • Develop, revise and update curriculum in collaboration with the other department faculty and department chair. May develop and teach online courses.
  • Instruct, support, advise, and provide timely feedback to students in accordance with DACC policy and procedures.
  • Participate in and serve on department, division, and college committees, program advisory councils, task forces and working groups.
  • Maintain professional and academic competence and participate in professional development activities.
  • Assist with cooperative education or clinical work site development and student placement.
  • Maintain office hours as mandated by division and college policy.
  • Function as advisor to students, both individually and as assigned to student clubs and groups. Perform other related duties as assigned.
