Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching‑related activities.
• Manage the classroom/laboratory.
• Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
• Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
• Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
• Collaborate with the advisory committee in the program area.
• Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
• Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC.
• Support student organizations and activities.
• Develop relationships with business and industry.
• Complete program evaluation and follow‑up.
• Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in the field.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum Educational Requirements: Must have a master’s degree or higher in English or a master’s degree or higher in a related discipline with at least 18 graduate level coursework credits in English. A concentration in reading and writing is preferred.
• Preferred Qualifications: Previous post‑secondary teaching experience; experience teaching and/or developing curriculum in a variety of classroom environments including in‑person and online; experience teaching composition and/or literature; bilingual English/Spanish or English/Arabic.

Start Date: This position supports the General Education Pathway and is available to start for the fall semester; approximately August 2026 start.

Hours: This is a part‑time faculty pool position. Assignments are temporary, not guaranteed, and will vary in hours/days depending on course availability and department needs each semester. Work schedule could include in‑person, online, hybrid, daytime, evening, and weekend teaching assignments. All work must be conducted in the state of Wisconsin.

Salary: The starting hourly wage for all part‑time faculty is $40 per hour of teaching. Part‑time faculty are also compensated for an additional 45 minutes of time for each hour of instruction to cover office hours and prep time, which is equivalent to $70 per hour. This starting hourly wage is non‑negotiable.

Interview: As part of the interview process, selected candidates are required to prepare and present an interactive theory lesson and simulated teaching demonstration lasting 10 minutes of the overall interview time, which may be conducted in‑person or virtually.
