Job summary

Princess Cruises and Holland America Line seeks an Instructor, Driver Safety and Training in Juneau to shape careers and build confidence for professional motorcoach drivers. You will lead classroom learning and hands-on driving instruction to help students develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to succeed behind the wheel and deliver exceptional guest experiences.

Qualifications

• Experience as a driver-guide with Holland America/Princess-Alaska or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license with 3 years clean driving record; MVR may be requested.
• Commercial Driver's License, Class B with air brake endorsement required.
• DOT physical and drug screen certification.
• Minimum age 21; able to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Communicates and enforces DOT, state/local regulations and company policies.
• Demonstrates driver-guide techniques and maintenance duties.
• Evaluates student drivers' abilities and training progress; documents skills progress.
• Reports trainee progress to management regularly.
• Maintains records in the appropriate logs.
• Other duties as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Communicates and enforces Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, state and local regulations, and company policies.
• Demonstrates driver-guide techniques and maintenance duties.
• Evaluates student driver's abilities and training progress and documents student driver's skills progress.
• Reports trainee's progress to management on a regular basis.
• Maintains records in the appropriate logs.
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

• Must have previous experience as a driver-guide with Holland America/Princess-Alaska or equivalent experience.
• Current, valid driver's license, with three (3) years clean driving record. Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) will be requested.
• Must meet Company's clean driver eligibility requirements.
• Current, valid Commercial Driver's License, Class B with an air brake endorsement is required.
• Must be certified as physically qualified through a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical and drug screen.
• Minimum age of 21 is required.
• Must pass a pre-employment background check.
• Dedicated to delivering excellent customer service to all guests, coworkers, and vendors.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States. Holland America-Princess is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time (e.g., H-2B status).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

• Possess good verbal and writing communication skills.
• Proficient in the use of computer business applications.
• Ability to prioritize work, maintain attention to time constraints, while working in a team or group environment.
• You must also have the ability to organize work, meet deadlines, maintain attention to detail and accuracy, supervise and manage staff.
• Ability to work in fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and external influences.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while achieving daily goals.
• Ability to support and comply with company policies, procedures and guidelines including support and comply with company health and safety standards.
• Ability to stand/walk/work on feet for minimum of 8 hours per day.
