Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities
The Instructor/Assistant Professor in Family and Consumer Sciences Education will teach, advise, and supervise undergraduate students majoring in Family and Consumer Sciences Education and Family and Consumer Sciences Extension and Community Leadership Track.
Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements
Current teaching certification in FCS or a related occupation-based FCS pathway, or ability to attain licensure, is required. Previous teaching experience in Family Consumer Sciences or Career Technical Education required.
Preferred Education and/or Experience Qualifications
Three years of public school teaching experience in FCS is preferred. Experience teaching in middle and/or high school, and program design/management of FCS preparation. A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students and school-based personnel. Experience in teaching blended or online classes as well as face-to-face classes preferred. A commitment to working in an interdisciplinary teaching and learning environment. Background in and willingness to assume a leadership role at the local, state, and/or national/international levels. Record of seeking external funding and participating in research and school-based projects preferred.
Note: If the successful candidate is master’s prepared, the position will be filled as a non-tenure track, instructor. If the successful candidate holds a terminal degree, the position will be filled as a tenure-track, assistant professor.
