Cypress-Fairbanks ISD is seeking a part-time ELC support staff member in Houston to assist with daily activity plans, instructional exercises, and maintaining a safe classroom environment for young learners.

The role requires at least 18 years of age, a high school diploma or GED, and the ability to meet Texas HHSC eligibility including first aid/CPR. Flexibility for evenings/weekends and strong attendance are essential.

Qualifications

  • Occasional nights and weekends as required for meetings or trainings.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is essential.
  • Meets eligibility requirements of Texas HHSC for child care employment including first aid/CPR.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct instructional exercises with individuals or small groups.
  • Support a positive classroom environment conducive to learning and development.
  • Use age-appropriate strategies to manage behavior per standards.
  • Assist children with physical needs and personal care.
  • Supervise children in all programming areas and protect materials and facilities.
  • Maintain a welcoming classroom for children and parents.
  • Maintain neatness and cleanliness of the center and supplies.
  • Protect children, equipment, and facilities at all times.
  • Establish professional relationships with parents, children, colleagues, and supervisors.
  • Complete paperwork as assigned by ELC Instructor and Director.
  • Provide quality customer service to children, parents, colleagues, and visitors.
  • Serve as a positive role model and support department/center mission.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to Texas Minimum Standards.
  • Participate in staff development and training requirements.
  • Comply with policies and attend required meetings.
  • Direct substitutes when assigned and perform other duties as needed.

Salary/Paygrade

$24,197 – IP3 as approved by the Board of Trustees for the School Year

Essential Functions
  • Assist in the implementation of daily activity plans and center events, including assisting the ELC instructor in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
  • Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the instructor, including working with individual learners or small groups.
  • Support a positive classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of young learners.
  • Utilize age-appropriate strategies to manage the behavior of young learners in accordance with district and department policies and guidelines, as well as the Minimum Standards for Child Care Centers.
  • Assist children with physical needs and personal care, including feeding, bathroom needs, and personal hygiene.
  • Actively supervise children in all programming areas and take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect children, equipment, materials, and facilities
  • Assist in creating a classroom environment that is warm and welcoming for children and parents.
  • Assist in maintaining a neat and orderly classroom including supporting the cleanliness of the center and sanitizing center supplies.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect children, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, children, colleagues, and supervisors.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork as assigned by the ELC Instructor and ELC Director.
  • Provide quality customer service to all children, parents, colleagues and visitors.
  • Serve as a positive role model for children and peers; support the mission and vision of the department and center.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Adhere to all Texas Minimum Standards for Child Care Centers.
  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills and meet the yearly training requirements as outlined in the Minimum Standards for Child Care Centers.
  • Comply with state, district, and department regulations and policies, pertaining to the role of an ELC employee.
  • Attend and participate in staff and department meetings, as required.
  • Assist in directing the work of substitutes, if assigned.
  • Perform any and all other duties deemed necessary by the ELC Director, the Assistant Director of Community Programs, or the Director of Community Programs.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
