Job summary

Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) is seeking part-time faculty for the General Education Pathway to teach in-person at MATC campuses and online during the day, evening, and weekend. Start is for the spring semester, with mid-January 2027 availability.

You will deliver instruction, manage classrooms, develop curricula, assess student performance, and collaborate with the advisory committee to recruit and retain students and strengthen ties with business and community partners.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in a Fine Arts discipline (Art, Design, Art History, or Film) or equivalent with 18 graduate credits.
• Must embrace Standards of Teaching Excellence and MATC Career Essentials in instruction delivery.
• Essential Technology: Email, Telephone, Computer with Office Suite/Google.

Under the direction of the Associate Dean of the General Education Pathway, or designee, to develop and teach concepts and strategies for a variety of courses. Will require teaching courses in-person at MATC campuses, business, community, other sites, and/or online during the day, evening, and/or weekend. Related duties include participation in department and advisory meetings, department and college functions, course and curriculum development in both traditional and non-traditional formats.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities.
• Manage the classroom/laboratory.
• Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
• Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
• Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
• Collaborate with the advisory committee in the program area.
• Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
• Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC.
• Support student organizations and activities.
• Develop relationships with business and industry.
• Complete program evaluation and follow-up.
• Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in the field.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Only those who meet all of the base minimum requirements listed below will be considered.

Minimum Educational Requirements: Must have at least ONE of the following:

• A master's degree or higher n a Fine Arts discipline such as but not limited to Art, Design, Art History, or Film
• A master's degree or higher with at least eighteen (18) GRADUATE coursework credits in a Fine Arts discipline such as but not limited to Art, Design, Art History, or Film.

• Online Information Management Systems - e.g. Self-Service or other online information management systems used for student advising, student programs, grading, class schedules and rosters
• Blackboard Ultra - Experience with Blackboard or other web-based course - management systems
• Technology-based Instruction - Experience with technology-based instructional delivery systems including SMART symposium, interactive touch screen monitors, LCD projectors, DVD players and/or other classroom technology
• Emerging Technologies - Experience with emerging technologies (eg. social networking applications)

Supplemental Information

Start Date: This position supports the General Education Pathway and is available to start for the spring semester, approximately mid-January 2027. This is not for summer teaching assignments.

Hours: This is a part-time faculty pool position. This is an "applicant pool" posting. Assignments are temporary, not guaranteed, can vary in hours/days, and will depend entirely on course availability and department needs each semester. Work schedule could include in person, online, hybrid, daytime, evening, and weekend teaching assignments. Part-time faculty pool

All work must be conducted in the state of Wisconsin.

Salary: The starting hourly wage for all part-time faculty is $40 per course hour of teaching. Part-time faculty are also compensated for an additional 45 minutes of time for each hour of instruction to cover office hours and prep time which is equivalent to $70 per hour. This starting hourly wage of $40 an hour is non-negotiable.
