Management & Training Corporation (MTC) operates the Hawaii Job Corps Center in Makawao, HI, where instructors guide students toward academic and career goals. As a Penn Foster Instructor, you will deliver instruction per approved curricula, motivate students, prepare lessons, and ensure contractual compliance while reporting on progress and outcomes.

We value experienced educators who can translate classroom concepts into practical skills and provide supportive counseling to learners facing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in a related field.
• Valid teaching certificate or PRAXIS exam completion required.
• 1 year instructional experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic instruction to students in accordance with approved curricula.
• Provide students with basic direction, in compliance with government and management directives.
• Motivate and counsel students in behavior, training, personal problems or study habits; coordinate with other staff as necessary to resolve issues.
• Develop and prepare lessons; recommend curricula changes and supplemental materials.
• Utilize workplace language and behavior expectations in the classroom; relate academic skills to career technical training and workplace requirements.
• Review and audit all assigned areas regularly for contractual compliance and effectiveness of delivery of services to students.

What you will be doing:

You’ll be responsible providing academic instruction to students in accordance with approved curricula. Provide students with basic direction, in compliance with government and management directives.

• Provide students with basic direction, instruction and assistance in designated area(s) of instruction.
• Motivate and counsel students in areas of behavior, training, personal problems or study habits; coordinate with other staff as necessary to resolve issues affecting student training.
• Develop and prepare lessons; recommend curricula changes and supplemental materials.
• Utilize workplace language and behavior expectations in the classroom; on a routine basis, relate academic skills to career technical training and workplace requirements; inquire if individual students need assistance.
• Review and audit all assigned areas regularly for contractual compliance and effectiveness of delivery of services to students. Prepare related reports.
  

Education And Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Valid teaching certificate, experience with youth, OR PRAXIS exams, and communication/computer proficiency.
• One (1) year instructional experience preferred.
• A Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
