Guided by person-centered planning, The Pioneer Center works closely with individuals to understand their needs and arrange appropriate, personalized supports. Services are designed to be respectful, age-appropriate, and provided as close to individuals’ homes and families as possible. The Pioneer Center has been serving children and adults with developmental disabilities in Ross County since its legislative creation in 1967.
Role Description The Instructor is a full-time, on-site role based at The Pioneer School in Chillicothe, OH. This role is responsible for planning and delivering instructional activities for individuals with developmental disabilities, using person-centered approaches that support functional living, communication, social, and academic skills. Daily tasks include developing lesson plans, adapting materials to individual needs, implementing individualized service or education plans, and tracking progress through documentation and reports. The Instructor collaborates with families, support staff, therapists, and other team members to coordinate services and ensure consistent, dignified support. Additional responsibilities include maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment, participating in team meetings and training, and contributing to continuous improvement of program quality.
