Job summary

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a strategic vision for instructional technology that supports the University’s academic mission and student success.
• Lead integration of instructional technology into face-to-face, online, and hybrid courses.
• Administer, support, and evaluate the University’s Learning Management System and other instructional technology platforms.
• Provide faculty with training on LMS, instructional applications, digital resources, and emerging educational technologies.
• Consult with faculty on course design, online and hybrid course development, and digital learning practices.
• Develop and deliver professional development opportunities that enhance faculty technology skills and instructional effectiveness.
• Collaborate with Information Technology to ensure availability, configuration, security, and reliability of instructional technology systems.
• Identify needs and recommend solutions with academic leadership and IT.
• Support development and implementation of online and hybrid courses and programs.
• Promote accessibility and inclusive design in digital learning environments and materials.
• Provide guidance on FERPA, privacy, copyright, accessibility and other requirements.
• Evaluate emerging educational technologies and provide recommendations on their appropriate use.
• Develop resources, tutorials, guides, and training materials for faculty and students.

Job Summary

The Instructional Technologist provides strategic leadership and technical expertise in the effective use of instructional technology to support teaching, learning, faculty development, and student success. The Instructor works collaboratively with faculty, academic leadership, Information Technology, and other University departments to integrate technology into the educational experience and promote innovative, accessible, and effective teaching practices. The Instructor oversees the University’s instructional technology environment, including the Learning Management System (LMS), instructional applications, digital learning tools, and technology-supported teaching and learning initiatives. The position serves as a resource and consultant to faculty in the effective use of technology, instructional design, online and hybrid learning, and emerging educational technologies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a strategic vision for instructional technology that supports the University’s academic mission and student success goals.
• Provide leadership and guidance in the effective integration of instructional technology into face-to-face, online, and hybrid courses.
• Administer, support, and evaluate the University’s Learning Management System and other instructional technology platforms.
• Provide faculty with individual and group training on the use of the LMS, instructional applications, digital resources, and emerging educational technologies.
• Consult with faculty on course design, instructional technology integration, online and hybrid course development, and effective digital learning practices.
• Develop and deliver professional development opportunities that enhance faculty technology skills and instructional effectiveness.
• Collaborate with Information Technology to ensure the availability, configuration, security, and reliability of instructional technology systems and applications.
• Work with academic leadership, faculty, and Information Technology to identify instructional technology needs and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Support the development and implementation of online and hybrid courses and programs.
• Promote accessibility and inclusive design in digital learning environments and instructional materials.
• Provide guidance regarding FERPA, student privacy, copyright, accessibility, and other applicable requirements related to instructional technology and digital learning.
• Evaluate emerging educational technologies, including artificial intelligence tools, and make recommendations regarding their appropriate use in teaching and learning.
• Develop instructional technology resources, tutorials, guides, and training materials for faculty and students.
• Monitor trends and emerging practices in educational technology, instructional design, online learning, and higher education.
• Participate in professional organizations, conferences, and professional development activities to maintain current knowledge and expertise.
• Collect and analyze data regarding the effectiveness and utilization of instructional technology and use findings to recommend improvements.
• Collaborate with faculty and academic departments to identify technology solutions that enhance student engagement, learning outcomes, and academic success.
• Assist with technology planning for new academic programs, courses, and instructional initiatives.
• Establish and maintain documentation, procedures, and standards related to instructional technology.
• Serve on University committees and participate in strategic planning and institutional initiatives related to technology and academic affairs.
• Provide timely and professional technical and instructional support to faculty and staff.
• Coordinate with vendors and external partners when necessary to implement, maintain, or evaluate instructional technology solutions.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the appropriate University administrator.

Education and Experience:

• Master’s degree in Technology, Instructional Design, Higher Education Administration, or related field.
