Job summary

Joliet Public Schools District 86 is seeking a Substitute Paraprofessional to assist in classrooms under the direction of licensed staff. The position is on-call, non-exempt, and 9-months with an hourly rate based on qualifications and hours worked.

Responsibilities include supporting instructional activities for individuals or small groups, preparing materials, and maintaining documentation. Strong communication and confidentiality are essential.

Qualifications

• Requires IL PEL or PARA license as specified by district.
• High School Diploma or 30 college hours; degree preferred.
• Must be NCLB highly qualified.
• Demonstrates concern for child’s well being.
• Willingness to accept instruction.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing instruction to individuals or small groups under the direction of the teacher/principal.
• Support classroom teacher with instruction and supervision during activities.
• Reinforce new skills with students using planned strategies.
• Maintain anecdotal notes and documentation for students as directed.
• Perform general clerical duties and operate office equipment as needed.
• Follow lesson plans and provide feedback on student progress.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow district policies.
