Job summary

Joliet Public Schools District 86 is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional for the 2026-2027 school year. You will support instruction for individuals and small groups under supervision of licensed staff in a 9-month, full-time role.

The position requires an Illinois PARA license or equivalent, or a general education endorsement with stipulations, and a minimum of 60 college credits. Strong communication and confidentiality are essential.

Qualifications

• Valid State of Illinois Professional Educator License with PARA endorsement or Educator License with Stipulations.
• Degree or minimum 60 semester hours of college credit.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for classroom activities under the teacher/principal direction.
• Assist classroom teacher with instruction and supervision.
• Work with individuals or small groups to reinforce skills.
• Maintain progress notes and documentation as instructed.
• Assist with daily routines and classroom activities.
• Follow lesson plans and policies with independence and judgment.
• Communicate effectively with staff and parents.
