Position: Instructional Support Paraprofessional – School-Based Enterprise: SmartLab

Arlington High School is seeking a dependable and collaborative Instructional Support Paraprofessional to assist in overseeing student operations within the SmartLab, a school-based enterprise providing printing and graphic design services to the school community.

The person in this role will work closely with students enrolled in the Marketing and Customer Experience course, supporting their learning and development in a hands-on workplace setting. Under the direction of the course instructor, the support personnel will help facilitate daily operations, promote professional skills, and ensure the SmartLab runs smoothly and safely. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with students and fostering real-world skill development in a creative, fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a school or youth-based setting.
  • Familiarity with printing or graphic design tools and processes, including Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to foster a supportive and inclusive environment for all students.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and support students working in the SmartLab to ensure high-quality and timely completion of printing and design tasks.
  • Assist students in operating printing, scanning, cutting, and design equipment safely and effectively.
  • Collaborate with AHS departments in the creation and printing of educational materials.
  • Monitor and manage print supplies, including ordering, inventory tracking, and basic maintenance of equipment.
  • Support student-led graphic design services, providing technical and workflow guidance as needed.
  • Encourage the development of customer service, communication, and collaboration skills among students.
  • Promote a clean, organized, and professional workspace.
  • Serve as a mentor, providing consistent, positive feedback and encouraging growth and accountability.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 183 Days Per Year (School Year), 7 hours per day

REPORTS TO: Principal and Building Administrators

SALARY/BENEFITS: In accordance with AEA Unit D Contract
