Job summary

Summit Management Consulting, LLC is seeking an Instructional Support Specialist to assist teachers and students in a school setting. You will implement prepared lessons, support behavior and academic interventions, and help with substitute plans as needed.

In this role you will supervise students, reinforce PBIS procedures, and ensure a positive learning environment. A minimum credential is required, with relevant education credits and/or substitute permits.

Qualifications

• Must have 60 college credits and/or an Associate degree with the required NCLB credentials.
• Valid substitute permit is required or clearly documented.
• Candidates should demonstrate strong verbal communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Work with identified students and support classroom teachers.
• Execute lessons and provide supplemental activities as needed.
• Report concerns to the teacher regarding academics or behavior.
• Prepare substitutes or plans in case of absence.
• Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, and other areas.
• Enforce school policies and classroom rules.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Summary/Objective

Instructional Support personnel function as a teacher’s aide, substitute teachers, and other educational and instructional support as needed to accomplish educational goals.

Essential Functions

• Working with identified students.
• Executing lessons already planned by the classroom teacher.
• Reporting to the classroom teacher any concerns that may arise (academic or behavior) that are noticed.
• Preparing for the day in case of absence (sub plans).
• Providing supplemental activities to use with groups as time provides.
• Being a role model for the students and teaching leadership attributes.
• Instructional Support Specialists are expected to follow our PBIS procedures for handling minor classroom behaviors.
• Supervise students in the classroom, hallways, cafeterias, etc.
• Enforce administration polices and rules governing students.
• Sub in classrooms when needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment
