Job summary

Summit Management Consulting is seeking an Instructional Support staff member to assist teachers by following lesson plans, supervising students, and providing tailored support to identified learners. You will prepare for substitutions, monitor behavior, and contribute to a positive learning environment.

The role is part-time (up to 29 hours/week) and requires collaboration with educators, ability to multi-task, and familiarity with PBIS procedures. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 60 college credits/Associate degree and/or the required credentials under NCLB.
• Valid substitute permit.

Responsibilities

• Work with identified students to support learning objectives.
• Execute lessons prepared by the classroom teacher.
• Report academic or behavior concerns to the teacher.
• Prepare substitute plans in advance for absences.
• Provide supplemental activities for groups when time allows.
• Model positive behavior and leadership for students.
• Follow PBIS procedures for managing minor classroom behaviors.
• Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, etc.
• Enforce school policies and student rules.
• Substitute in classrooms as needed.
• Duties as assigned.

Job description

Instructional Support personnel function as a teacher’s aide, substitute teachers, and other educational and instructional support as needed to accomplish educational goals. This is a part‑time position with up to 29 hours of work each week.

Essential Functions

• Working with identified students.
• Executing lessons already planned by the classroom teacher.
• Reporting to the classroom teacher any concerns that may arise (academic or behavior) that are noticed.
• Preparing for the day in case of absence (sub plans).
• Providing supplemental activities to use with groups as time provides.
• Being a role model for the students and teaching leadership attributes.
• Instructional Support Specialists are expected to follow our PBIS procedures for handling minor classroom behaviors.
• Supervise students in the classroom, hallways, cafeterias, etc.
• Enforce administration polices and rules governing students.
• Sub in classrooms when needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
