Job summary

Sumter School District's Furman Middle School in Sumter, SC is seeking an Instructional Paraprofessional to support classroom instruction and maintain a positive learning environment under a certified teacher.

The role includes assisting with reading and mathematics interventions, preparing instructional activities, and communicating student progress to the teacher and principal. A degree or credits and relevant experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher required or 60 college credits toward a degree.
• Praxis Para Pro or WorkKeys or equivalent assessment or passing score.
• Minimum three years of elementary school experience is highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the classroom teacher, helps maintain a positive learning environment.
• Assists with implementing daily learning experiences aligned with the grade level and district practices.
• Collaborates with the teacher to inform curricular planning and classroom decisions.
• Provides any needed accommodations for students and supports reading and math interventions.
• Promotes safety and a positive, respectful learning environment for all students.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the principal or certified staff.
