Job summary

Montgomery College, Takoma Park-Silver Spring campus, seeks a full-time Diagnostic Medical Sonography faculty member beginning January 2027. The position is part of a collective bargaining unit and may teach face-to-face, online, hybrid, or blended formats at multiple campuses.

The successful candidate will engage students with inclusive teaching, participate in program evaluation, and collaborate with the Allied Health Department to ensure student success and program accreditation.

Qualifications

• Associate degree from a JRCDMS-accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program recognized by USDOE or CHEA.
• Bachelor’s degree in any discipline required.
• Demonstrated excellence in classroom instruction using diverse teaching methods.
• Experience integrating technology and LMS into course delivery.
• Commitment to inclusive and equitable teaching for a diverse student population.
• Demonstrated collaboration with colleagues and active professional engagement.

Responsibilities

• Teach a variety of courses within the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
• Teach 30 semester hours per academic year; summer teaching opportunities may exist.
• Participate in program evaluation, curriculum design, and outcomes assessment.
• Follow department guidance to ensure consistent content across sections.
• Provide support to the program and clinical coordinator.
• Visit students at clinical sites in the DC/MD/VA area.
• Engage in continuing education for credential maintenance and accreditation.
• Serve on committees, hold office hours, advise students, and pursue ongoing professional development.

Montgomery College, Takoma Park-Silver Spring campus, is seeking an outstanding full-time Diagnostic Medical Sonography faculty member beginning January 2027. We are seeking enthusiastic professionals with a strong commitment to health science education and the ability to motivate and engage students to succeed. This position is part of a collective bargaining unit.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to student success, working in a multi-cultural environment, commitment to the community college mission, and have effective oral and written communication skills. Outstanding candidates with a passion for teaching are particularly encouraged to apply to join the dedicated faculty of the Montgomery College Allied Health Department.

Teaching assignments may include various delivery modes, such as face-to-face, on-line, hybrid and/or blended formats during days, evenings, and weekends. Montgomery College has multiple campuses, and faculty may be assigned to teach in-person at any of those campuses and teach online.

Duties

• Teach a variety of courses within the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
• Teach 30 semester hours per academic year. Opportunities may exist to teach summer classes.
• Participate in discipline-related activities such as program evaluation, curriculum design, and outcomes assessment and evaluation.
• Follow guidelines from department director to ensure consistent content coverage and student experience across multiple sections of a course.
• Provide support to the program and clinical coordinator as needed.
• Visit students at clinical sites in the D.C., Maryland, Virginia area.
• Engage in continuing education for the maintenance of credentials and accreditation requirements.
• Faculty members are expected to serve on departmental, campus, and/or college committees, hold office hours, advise students, participate in course and program assessment, and maintain an active personal program of professional development and continuous learning.

Required Qualifications

• Must hold an associate degree, from a JRCDMS accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation
• Eligible applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in any discipline
• Demonstrated excellence in classroom instruction using a variety of teaching methods.
• Experience integrating technology into course delivery including use of a Learning Management System.
• Demonstrated commitment to inclusive and equitable teaching practices and support of a diverse student population.
• Demonstrated effective collaboration with colleagues.
• Experience utilizing high-impact teaching pedagogies to foster student engagement and active learning.
• Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

• A Master’s Degree in any discipline
• ARDMS registered or equivalent
• Prior teaching experience in Diagnostic Medical Sonography

Hiring Range

Hiring Range: $64,510 - $98,220
