Job summary

Montgomery College seeks an outstanding full-time Diagnostic Medical Sonography faculty member starting January 2027. The role covers in-person, online, hybrid and blended formats across multiple campuses and online teaching modalities.

The successful candidate will foster student success in a multicultural environment, contribute to program assessment, and collaborate with faculty and staff within the Allied Health Department. Salary range provided.

Qualifications

• Associate degree from an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
• Bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
• Demonstrated excellence in classroom instruction with varied teaching methods.
• Experience integrating technology in course delivery using a Learning Management System (LMS).

Responsibilities

• Teach a variety of courses within the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
• Teach 30 semester hours per academic year; opportunities may include summer classes.
• Participate in program evaluation, curriculum design, and outcomes assessment.
• Follow department guidelines to ensure content coverage across sections.
• Provide support to the program and clinical coordinator.
• Visit students at clinical sites in the DC/MD/VA area.
• Engage in continuing education for credential maintenance and accreditation requirements.
• Serve on committees, hold office hours, advise students, and pursue ongoing professional development.

Montgomery College, Takoma Park-Silver Spring campus, is seeking an outstanding full-time Diagnostic Medical Sonography faculty member beginning January 2027. We are seeking enthusiastic professionals with a strong commitment to health science education and the ability to motivate and engage students to succeed. This position is part of a collective bargaining unit.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to student success, working in a multi-cultural environment, commitment to the community college mission, and have effective oral and written communication skills. Outstanding candidates with a passion for teaching are particularly encouraged to apply to join the dedicated faculty of the Montgomery College Allied Health Department.

Teaching assignments may include various delivery modes, such as face-to-face, on-line, hybrid and/or blended formats during days, evenings, and weekends. Montgomery College has multiple campuses, and faculty may be assigned to teach in-person at any of these campuses and teach online.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Teach a variety of courses within the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
• Teach 30 semester hours per academic year. Opportunities may exist to teach summer classes.
• Participate in discipline-related activities such as program evaluation, curriculum design, and outcomes assessment and evaluation.
• Follow guidelines from department director to ensure consistent content coverage and student experience across multiple sections of a course.

• Visit students at clinical sites in the D.C, Maryland, Virginia area.
• Engage in continuing education for the maintenance of credentials and accreditation requirements.
• Faculty members are expected to serve on departmental, campus, and/or college committees, hold office hours, advise students, participate in course and program assessment, and maintain an active personal program of professional development and continuous learning.

Required Qualifications:

• Must hold an associate degree, from a JRCDMS accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation
• Eligible applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in any discipline
• Demonstrated excellence in classroom instruction using a variety of teaching methods.
• Experience integrating technology into course delivery including use of a Learning Management System.
• Demonstrated commitment to inclusive and equitable teaching practices and support of a diverse student population.
• Demonstrated effective collaboration with colleagues.
• Experience utilizing high-impact teaching pedagogies to foster student engagement and active learning.
• Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

• A Master’s Degree in any discipline
• ARDMS registered or equivalent
• Prior teaching experience in Diagnostic Medical Sonography

Hiring Range

$64,510 - $98,220

As a condition of employment, the following are required at the time of hire:

• Successful completion of a background check and degree verification (if applicable).
• Participation in a retirement plan (Pension or Optional Retirement Plan, depending on the position). If you are already retired from the Maryland State Retirement System, you may not enroll in a Maryland State Retirement System plan at Montgomery College and may have earnings restrictions, per state law.
