Job summary

Montgomery College seeks a full-time Behavioral Health faculty member to join in January 2027. The ideal candidate will be a professional, committed to students, and capable of motivating diverse learners in a multi-cultural environment.

The role includes teaching a range of Behavioral Health courses, 30 semester hours annually, and potential summer teaching opportunities, with service on committees and active professional development.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree required in Counseling, Social Work, Behavioral Health, Community Health or similar field.
  • Minimum of one year experience in an academic environment.
  • Experience teaching asynchronous and/or blended classes using Blackboard, Zoom or similar LMS.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in instructional methodology, curriculum design, and program planning.
  • Commitment to inclusive and equitable teaching practices with diverse student populations.

Job Description

Montgomery College is seeking an outstanding Full-time Behavioral Health faculty member to fill a position beginning January 2027. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who exhibits a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to our students, and the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner. This position is part of a collective bargaining unit. The successful candidate will appreciate teaching in a multi-cultural environment and will welcome the opportunity to work with students with diverse learning abilities.


Faculty Duties


  • Teach a variety of courses within the Behavioral Health program.

  • Teach 30 semester hours per academic year.

  • Opportunities may exist to teach summer classes.

  • Participate in discipline-related activities such as program evaluation, curriculum design, and outcomes assessment and evaluation.

  • Provide support to the program and coordinator as needed.

  • Faculty members are expected to serve on departmental, campus, and/or college committees, hold office hours, advise students, participate in course and program assessment, and maintain an active personal program of professional development and continuous learning.


Required Qualifications


  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Behavioral Health, Community Health or similar field

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in an academic environment.

  • Experience teaching asynchronous and/or Blended classes using Blackboard, Zoom or similar Learning Management System.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in instructional methodology, curriculum design, and program planning.

  • Demonstrated excellence in classroom instruction using a variety of teaching methods.

  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusive and equitable teaching practices and support of a diverse student population.

  • Experience integrating technology into course delivery including use of a Learning Management System.

  • Demonstrated effective collaboration with colleagues.

  • Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience teaching a variety of college level Behavioral Health courses at the college level

  • Certified Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) instructor

  • Certified Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) nonviolent crisis intervention instructor

  • Experience with academic program advising

  • Experience supporting students through extracurricular activities or community outreach.

  • Evidence of commitment to professional development and scholarly activities.

  • Experience supporting students to overcome barriers to academic success.


Hiring Range

Hiring Range: $64,510 - $98,220
