Job summary

Arizona State University’s Mary Lou Fulton College for Teaching and Learning Innovation is seeking an Instructional Designer to design, develop, and continuously improve scalable, learner-centered learning experiences across traditional and emerging education settings. Qualifications

• Experience designing online, hybrid, or technology-enhanced learning experiences using learning science principles.
• Experience collaborating with faculty, SMEs, or cross-functional teams.
• Experience translating complex subject matter into clear, structured learning experiences for adult learners.
• Experience building courses in Canvas or similar LMS and authoring tools.
• Experience integrating and evaluating emerging learning technologies, including AI-enabled tools.
• Experience participating in quality assurance, course reviews, or continuous improvement with an instructional design team.
• Experience managing multiple concurrent projects and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience using assessment data, analytics, or learner feedback to improve learning experiences.
• Evidence of effective communication.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable, learner-centered, and evidence-based learning experiences.
• Apply learning science principles to course design, including feedback, cognitive load, scaffolding, and practice.
• Lead learning design projects and program-level initiatives such as mastery-based grading or AI in assignments.
• Develop and maintain documentation related to course design, configuration, and revisions.
• Support quality assurance processes and cross-course alignment efforts.
