What We Do:
Cornerstone Caregiving is passionate about helping seniors age in place in a setting and manner of their choosing. We believe seniors deserve the opportunity to age in a healthy, dignified environment. As a leading, nationwide home care organization serving seniors in more than 400 locations, Cornerstone remains committed to providing the highest quality of care to those that cared for us.
Job Description:
The Instructional Designer will turn Cornerstone Caregiving's training content into engaging, role-based eLearning and publish it in our learning management system (Paylocity). This role will be responsible for building the courses, assessments, and learning paths and for keeping the course library current, accessible, and easy to report on. Working alongside the learning & development team, this role owns the build: storyboards into eLearning modules, scripts into video, assessments into scored quizzes, and courses into learning paths.
Job Responsibilities:
Analysis & Design
- Analyze system functionality, business processes, user roles, workflows, and source documentation to identify learning and performance needs
- Design role-based learning that ties each lesson to the tasks a learner performs in a home care office
- Write course outlines, design documents, and storyboards, and take them through structured review and sign-off
eLearning & Media Development
- Develop self-paced eLearning, simulations, and software walkthroughs in Articulate Storyline
- Produce short-form and microlearning content, including Vyond animations and AI avatar videos
- Build job aids, reference guides, and knowledge-library resources for just-in-time support
- Support instructor-led and virtual instructor-led training with facilitator guides, participant materials, and slide decks
- Use AI tools to speed up scripting, drafting, voiceover, and media production, while checking every output for accuracy
LMS Publishing & Administration
- Build and maintain role-based and scenario-based learning paths
- Set up quizzes and scored assessments that measure whether learners can perform the task, and feed results into each learner's report card
- Keep the course library organized: naming, versioning, retiring outdated content, and updating courses when a process or system changes
Quality Assurance & Rollouts
- Test every course before launch for function, accuracy, and accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA)
- Build the learning components of operational and system rollouts on the agreed launch schedule
- Create refresher, remedial, and sustainment training as well as launch content
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with the Director of Learning & Development and other team members on priorities, learning paths, and review standards
- Work with Operational Excellence on training for system and process rollouts
- Work with subject-matter experts in Office Operations and the OD Launch team so content matches how the job is done
- Partner with the People team on Paylocity setup and reporting
How Success Is Measured:
- Comprehension: assessment scores that hold or rise over time
- Completion: learning-path completion rates by role
- Speed: rollout training published in the LMS by the agreed launch date
- Library health: no outdated courses live after a process or system change
- Quality: courses that pass review with little rework
Education & Certifications:
- Master’s degree in instructional design, educational technology, or a related field; may substitute a combination of education and experience
- 3–5 years of experience as an instructional designer or eLearning developer
- Portfolio with samples of eLearning, instructor-led training, and PowerPoint work
Required Skills:
- Expert proficiency in Articulate Storyline, Vyond, Snagit, and Microsoft 365.
- Hands-on experience publishing and administering courses in an LMS, including SCORM packages, enrollments, learning paths, assessments, and reports
- Ability to conduct task, audience, role, and workflow analyses and turn the findings into effective training
- Experience building multiple formats: eLearning, ILT, vILT, simulations, job aids, and microlearning
- Strong knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional systems design (ADDIE or SAM), and performance-based assessment
- Experience building role-based training
- Experience working with subject-matter experts and technical teams through structured review, QA, and approval processes
- Working knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA, Section 508)
- Strong writing, editing, organization, and analytical skills; able to manage several projects at once and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with the Paylocity LMS or another HR-suite LMS
- Experience with Articulate Rise 360, Camtasia, and AI avatar or voice tools such as Synthesia or HeyGen
- Practical use of AI tools in instructional design and development
- Experience with Google Workspace
- Experience training staff on business software rollouts, ideally scheduling or care-management platforms such as AxisCare
- Background in home care, healthcare, or another multi-site service business
- Basic graphic design, video editing, and audio skills
