Job summary

Benchmark Education Publishing is seeking an Instructional Design and Training Specialist to define and implement evidence-based pedagogical approaches for Spanish literacy, dual language, and cross-linguistic transfer decisions. You will guide the instructional design of new Spanish and dual products and collaborate with editors, authors, and consultants to shape content and program matrices.

You will participate in development meetings, create scope and sequences, and craft product training

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience developing literacy materials for an educational publisher.
  • Bachelor's degree in English, education, or a related field; master's preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Guide the instructional design of new Spanish and dual products, providing a practitioner perspective on content.
  • Collaborate with content developers and consultants to develop program matrices and scope and sequences based on ELA/ELD standards.
  • Attend Content Development meetings to support conceptualization and prototyping of new components.
  • Develop scope and sequences with content developers and outside consultants as needed.
  • Create new product prototypes and provide feedback on prototypes developed by others.
  • Contribute to district/state submissions by writing/reviewing RFP responses for accuracy and completeness.
  • Participate in product launch meetings, scrums, and RFP weekly meetings.
  • Work with the Director to create product training scripts for Spanish core and supplemental products.

Job description

Position Purpose

The Instructional Design and Training Specialist works directly with the Publisher and Spanish Executive Editor to define and implement research-based pedagogical approaches related to Spanish literacy, Dual Language, and Cross Linguistic Transfer decisions.

Responsibilities
  • Guide the instructional design of new Spanish and dual products, providing a professional developer/practitioner perspective on content to ensure best practices.
  • Collaborate with content developers, authors, and consultants to conceptualize new products and develop program matrices and scope and sequences based on ELA, ELD and content standards.
  • Attend Content Development working meetings to support the conceptualization and prototyping of all new components.
  • Develop scope and sequences, working with content developers and outside consultants as needed.
  • Create new product prototypes and provide feedback on prototypes developed by others.
  • Participate in district and state submissions by writing and/or reviewing RFP responses to ensure accuracy and comprehensiveness of responses.
  • Participate in product launch meetings, scrums, and RFP weekly meetings.
  • Work with the Director, Instructional Design and Training, to create product training scripts for Spanish core and supplemental products.
Qualifications & Skills
  • 4+ years of experience developing literacy materials for an educational publisher.
  • B.A. in English, education, or a related field (M.A. a plus).
  • Superior Spanish writing & editing skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to handle stress in a high-deliverable, deadline-driven environment.
  • Current knowledge of language, literacy and content issues, research and standards.
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office, basic proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
  • Comfortable juggling a number of projects concurrently.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other departments (e.g., design and marketing).
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Teaching experience is a plus.
