Alexandria City Public Schools is seeking an Instructional Coach for School Improvement at John Adams Elementary School. The role oversees the CSIP process, conducts data analysis, coordinates testing, and supports staff through formative and summative assessment training.

The position is a 10-month licensed role reporting to the school principal, with responsibilities in data-driven instruction, PLC guidance, and AVID implementation to promote a college- and career-ready culture.

Qualificações

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field and a Master's degree.
  • Valid Virginia Department of Education Teaching License with endorsement in Elementary Education or Secondary Content Area.
  • Data Wise or related data training preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching or school leadership experience.
  • Proven ability to use data to drive instructional decisions and improve student outcomes.
  • Experience in leading schools out of federal accountability status and supporting school improvement plans.
  • Experience with coordinating assessments and testing protocols.
  • AVID implementation experience and support of WICOR strategies.

Responsabilidades

  • Assist teachers and grade-level teams with implementation of the Virginia Standards of Learning.
  • Collaborate with teachers to improve classroom management and instructional methods.
  • Analyze student and teacher test data to assess instructional effectiveness.
  • Advise on data trends and best practices to improve outcomes.
  • Coordinate MTSS interventions and monitor Tier 2/3 support.
  • Lead professional development and site-based learning activities.
  • Serve as liaison for Title I/Curriculum and school professional learning.
  • Manage testing coordination and data analysis processes.

Job Description

The Instructional Coach for School Improvement will oversee the school improvement plan (CSIP) process, conduct data analysis, serve as the school's testing coordinator, provide training and support on formative & summative assessment to staff, provide guidance in PLCs, assist staff in the utilization of data to drive instruction, develop workshops based on academic needs, and provide additional support as warranted for the Core Knowledge curriculum framework.


This is 10-month, 195 day Licensed position reports to the School Principal, at John Adams Elementary School.


Qualifications


  • Education: A Bachelor's Degree from an Accredited College or University in Education or a related field, and A Master's degree.

  • Certification/Licensure: A Valid Virginia Department of Education Teaching Collegiate or PostGraduate License, with an endorsement in a Elementary Education, or a Secondary Content Area.

  • Additional Qualifications:

    • Data Wise or some data training preferred

    • Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching or school leadership experience, preferably in an urban, Title I, or IB environment.

    • Demonstrated success in using data to drive instructional decisions and improve student outcomes.

    • Proven experience leading schools out of federal accountability status, including successful support of targeted or comprehensive school improvement plans.

    • Experience in managing federal grant funding, including Title I and School Improvement Grants, with alignment to school improvement goals, compliance monitoring, and strategic planning.

    • Background in coordinating assessments, overseeing testing protocols, and analyzing student achievement data

    • Experience in AVID implementation, including support of WICOR strategies and promotion of a college- and career-ready culture.

    • Proficiency in Excel, Google Suite, MS Office, and educational data platforms such as EduClimber or Performance Matters.




Essential Functions


  • Assists teachers and grade-level teams with the implementation of the Virginia Standards of Learning

  • Works with teachers to improve classroom management and climate through the implementation of effective instructional methods

  • Analyzes student and teacher test data to determine teaching and learning effectiveness for each concept taught

  • Analyzes student test data and advises teachers and appropriate staff on trends, outcomes, needs, and effective practices

  • Recommends changes to current practices, approaches, methods, strategies, and assessments as needed Demonstrates, monitors, and evaluates the application of effective teaching strategies

  • Recommends best practices to achieve the desired student learning outcomes

  • Serves as the liaison for professional learning between Title I/Curriculum and the school

  • Coordinates site-based professional learning activities as needed

  • Conducts professional development at the school as needed

  • Informs faculty of professional development opportunities

  • Participates in periodic professional learning activities

  • Facilitate the school's Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) process by coordinating the identification, implementation, progress monitoring, and review of interventions for students requiring additional academic and/or behavioral support, with a particular focus on ensuring students receive and are appropriately monitored through Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions.

  • Performs other Title I duties as assigned by the Principal or Title I Grant Manager

  • Step Placement and Salary for this position is deteremined by The ACPS Teachers and Other Licensed Staff Salary Scale


FLSA Status


  • Exempt position - This position is classified as exempt, meaning it is not eligible for overtime pay under the Fair Labor Standards Act.


Clearances


  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.

  • Tuberculosis Skin Test.

  • Public Health Compliance - Must follow safety and health protocols.
