Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Support development and implementation of the 90/10 dual language model.
• Train teachers on curriculum alignment for DL programs and have CCSS alignment.
• Mentor new teachers in DL program implementation and lesson planning.
• Identify intervention strategies for literacy/math aligned to CCSS.
• Assist in data-driven student placement and progress discussions.
• Participate in meetings with teachers, admin, and families.
• Maintain records of student growth and progress monitoring.
• Support ongoing academic achievement and strategic planning.

Job Description

POSITION TITLE:
Instructional Coach (PART TIME)

JOB DESCRIPTION:
To support the school in the development of the 90/10 dual language program model,
support the use of effective and research-based teaching strategies to develop a strong
dual language program that supports student academic growth.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Assist in the development and implementation of the 90/10 dual language model and dual language program curriculum alignment plans required hours
• Train Teachers in the development and implementation of Curriculum Alignment for English and Spanish Language Development best practices using WIDA State Standards
• Mentor new and developing teachers in curriculum implementation for DL programs, lesson planning, student data collection (Istation Short Cycle Assessment), GLAD, AIM4S3, AVID, Estrellita, MLSS, SAT, etc.
• Identify targeted literacy and/or math intervention strategies to support teachers in supporting individual or small groups of students using high quality researched based strategies and resources aligned to Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and appropriate for bilingual students.
• Support teachers in the use of data to assist with identifying or selecting the most at-risk students for placement within intervention groups
• Participate in meetings with teachers, administration, and families to discuss student placement and progress or program needs.
• Support in assessing student achievement through screening, progress monitoring and use of appropriate diagnostic tools and maintain accurate, up-to-date records of student growth
• Support continuous academic achievement of students and strategic planning

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE

Preferences: Master's Degree in Administration or K-8 Teaching License and/or Early Childhood Education Certification, Bilingual and TESOL Endorsements, Specialized training in GLAD, AIM4S3, AVID and Early Childhood Education.

REQUIREMENTS

Minimal Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Education. Valid Level 3 New Mexico teaching license, Certified in Early Childhood Education. Ten years teaching experience in an elementary, middle or high school classroom (combination). Demonstrate extensive knowledge in core academic subject matter for grades PreK-5. Knowledge of State and District content standards. Currently highly qualified at the level of the position, Early Childhood Multicultural Education and/or K-8 Elementary.
