Job Overview

JOB TITLE: Instructional Coach (K-4)

FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Exempt (Professional), salaried employee

WORK DAYS: 190 days (excluding holidays)

STANDARD HOURS PER DAY: 8 hours

WORK YEAR: Begins approximately 3 days before the first student attendance day and ends 3 days after the last student day.

SALARY & BENEFITS: Paid on the “Teacher” salary schedule; eligible for benefits on the “Teacher” benefits schedule.

REPORTS TO: Building Principals and Director of Curriculum and Professional Learning

SUPERVISES: N/A

General Summary

The Instructional Coach (K-4) will collaborate with teachers across K-4 to enhance student achievement through effective reading and math instruction and interventions.

Essential Functions
  1. Support teachers with effective reading and math strategies to boost student achievement.
  2. Lead district-aligned, building-based professional development.
  3. Develop new teachers in instruction and classroom management.
  4. Collaborate with curriculum coordinators to communicate the district’s instructional vision.
  5. Stay informed of current research in instructional practices.
  6. Participate in data meetings and analyze school-wide data.
  7. Assist teachers with district assessments and data tracking.
  8. Support teachers in using digital content for instruction.
  9. Contribute to curriculum development and revision.
  10. Support grant projects and Title I grant supervision.
  11. Assist with textbook adoptions for reading and math materials.
  12. Support Journey of a Graduate implementation.
  13. Maintain records and reports pertinent to job execution.
  14. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Entry-Level Requirements
  1. Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
  2. Minimum of five years’ experience as a classroom teacher or school counselor.
  3. Valid Indiana School Teaching license.
  4. Ability to perform essential functions with or without accommodations.
Physical and Environmental Requirements

Primarily involves office work, school visits, and interactions with staff, students, and parents. Must efficiently use a computer. No heavy lifting required. Tasks are performed in typical school environment conditions.
