Job summary

Boston University is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor in the Chemistry Department to support instructional programming across biochemistry, general and organic chemistry, and instrumental analysis. The 11-month appointment runs August through June and collaborates with faculty, course coordinators, graduate teaching fellows, and work-study staff to meet course objectives.

Qualifications

BA/BS in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, or related life-sciences field.
1–3 years of relevant experience in laboratory management and instructional support.
Strong knowledge in biochemistry, molecular biology, general and organic chemistry.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for training and collaboration.

Responsibilities

Meet regularly with course coordinators, faculty, and teaching fellows on lab objectives.
Advise on design and logistics of protocols using available lab resources.
Stay up-to-date with lesson plans and prepare for rapid lab changes.
Maintain stocks of lab supplies to support instruction each semester.
Ensure inventory, prep, storage, and instructional spaces meet safety and code guidelines.
Train and supervise undergraduate work-study assistants.
