Yuba College is seeking an equity-minded, dynamic, collaborative, and innovative employee to serve as the Instructional Associate-College Success.
BASIC FUNCTION : Under the direction of an appropriate administrator or designee, provide instruction and assistance to students in basic skills, computer operations, instructional software and basic academic skills; develop lesson plans and activities to implement curriculum. Collaborate with faculty coordinators to manage day-to-day operations of the center including supervision of student workers and scheduling of tutors and student appointments. Coordinate with other programs and departments to provide educational support to students across the campus.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES :
Present cross curricular curriculum to groups of students in lab and classroom settings including, but not limited to: reading, grammar, vocabulary, math, writing and supplemental instruction. (E)
Coordinate instructional materials and assignments with instructors; recommend goals and improvements as appropriate. (E)
Evaluate student work and student needs; provide instructional support to students. (E)
Record student progress and attendance; prepare and maintain related records and reports in collaboration with IT and A&R as needed. (E)
Operate instructional equipment including computers, assistive technology, computer networks, educational software, copiers, printers and audio-visual equipment. (E)
Coordinate hiring procedures and paperwork for student tutors and temporary tutors. (E)
Interview, hire, train and supervise student front desk workers. (E)
Verify student workers’ hours and serve as a backup time card approver, approve monthly payroll. (E)
Assist with training and scheduling for cross-curricular tutoring.
Promote and explain centers’ practices to students, faculty, staff, administrators, and the public.
Prepare and update center job handbooks for tutors, front desk and Instructional Associates.
Assist in preparation of program review annual updates and assessments of SLOs/SAOs.
Collaborate with faculty coordinators to manage daily operations and supervise tutors. (E)
Schedule tutors work schedules and student appointments and manage traffic flow. (E)
Coordinate with IT as needed to upload current semester courses to student tracking software. (E)
Complete tracking software semester set up including course activation, creating and updating tutor accounts, and entering tutor work hours to enable scheduling. (E)
Collaborate with staff, programs, and departments to develop and present educational workshops.
Participate in basic skills department norming activities.
Explore grant opportunities and assist with writing grants for supplemental funding.
Evaluate student work; assist with and provide instruction to students regarding assignments; administer, grade and record assignments. (E)
Record student progress and attendance; prepare and maintain related records and reports; evaluate student needs; confer with instructors regarding student progress. (E)
Operate instructional equipment including computers, computer networks, educational software, copiers, printers and audio-visual equipment. (E)
Review and recommend purchase of instructional materials. (E) Prepare and distribute instructional materials. (E)
Troubleshoot and monitor computer problems in labs. (E) Revise course descriptions as directed.
Perform related duties as assigned.

ABILITY TO:

  • Operate a computer terminal to enter data, maintain records and generate reports by learning new software as needed to track daily operations of the center.

  • Prioritize and schedule work for student tutors, temporary tutors, and front desk student workers.

Required Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE : Any combination equivalent to: bachelor’s degree in language arts, math or related field and two years full-time experience in adult-level skills development program.
