Job Description
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum high school diploma, (two years post-high school education, Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred)
REPORT TO: Building Principal/ Assistant Principal, (Director of Student Services, )
General Description:
The High School Instructional Assistant provides instructional, behavioral, and social-emotional support to students with diverse learning needs in both general education classrooms and the Academic Lab. The Instructional Assistant works collaboratively with special education teachers, general education teachers, related service providers, and other school staff to help students access the curriculum, develop independence, and make meaningful progress toward their academic, organizational, behavioral, and transition goals.
The successful candidate will be flexible, collaborative, patient, and able to build positive relationships with high school students while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries and expectations. Experience working with students who demonstrate challenging behaviors is highly valued. An RBT (Registered Behavior Technician) certification or experience implementing positive behavioral supports is preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
On the job training as well CPI (Crisis intervention and De‑Escalation) training is provided.
Pay is commensurate with experience based on the collective bargaining agreement.
