Commonwealth Center for Children & Adolescents in Staunton, VA seeks an Instructional Assistant for the 2026-27 school year. The role involves assisting teachers, implementing lesson plans, and supporting students within an acute care psychiatric setting.

Responsibilities include 1:1 and group support, materials prep, confidentiality, safety, and adherence to IEPs, SOP, and hospital policies. 210-day contract; immediate start; benefits provided.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate basic reading, writing and computation skills.
• Experience with children; preferred mental health/trauma experience.
• Be at least 18 years old; background check required.

Responsabilités

• Assist classroom teachers in management and instruction as needed.
• Support individual and small-group learning activities according to IEPs.
• Maintain a positive, safe and orderly classroom environment.
• Assist in preparing materials and teaching aids for lessons.
• Follow safety protocols and hospital/school policies; attend required trainings.
