Job summary

McKinley Children's Center in California is seeking an Instructional Assistant to support the classroom teacher in addressing the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of all students.

Responsibilities include direct instructional support, data collection, student supervision, and curb-to-curb transportation assistance. The role involves collaboration with staff and adherence to intervention plans with consistency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred.
• Experience with students with learning, emotional and behavioral disabilities preferred.
• Proficient in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• General administrative and clerical abilities.
• Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism.
• Must pass pre-employment physical, TB test, and drug screening.
• Ability to commute to multiple school sites.
• Must complete and maintain Pro-ACT certification.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with mobility as needed.
• Ability to perform physical duties including standing, lifting, and hygiene support.
• Visual/auditory acuity for instructional duties.
• Manual dexterity for instructional tools and assistive devices.
• May work extended hours and travel between sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support in various academic areas.
• Follow through on intervention plans with consistency and professionalism.
• Fill in as a substitute teacher if qualified.
• Work across several classrooms and ages/grades.
• Assist in classroom management, crisis response, and safe restraint as trained.
• Provide tutoring in small groups or one-on-one.
• Collect and document behavioral and academic data as directed.
• Provide transportation for community-based students to/from school.
