Job summary

McKinley is seeking an Instructional Assistant to support teachers in addressing academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students. Responsibilities include instructional support, data collection, and curb-to-curb transportation assistance.

The role offers a pay range of $18.00–$22.00 hourly depending on experience, with robust benefits and growth opportunities within a trauma-informed, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
• Experience with students with learning, emotional, and behavioral disabilities preferred.
• Proficient in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• General administrative and clerical abilities.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented.
• Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism.
• Must pass a pre-employment physical, TB test, and drug screening.
• Able to commute to various school sites as needed.
• Must complete Pro-ACT certification.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist students as needed.
• Ability to perform physical duties (standing, lifting, etc.).
• Visual and auditory acuity for instructional duties.
• Manual dexterity for instructional tools.
• May require prolonged computer work for documentation.
• Ability to work extended hours as needed.
• DOJ, FBI, CACI checks.
• Insurability under corporate auto insurance.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support in a variety of academic areas.
• Follow through on intervention plans with consistency and professionalism.
• Fill in as a substitute teacher (if qualified).
• Work in several classrooms with varying ages and grades.
• Assist in classroom management, crisis response, and physical restraint as trained.
• Provide tutoring in small groups or one-on-one.
• Follow through on behavior and academic intervention plans.
• Work with classroom teachers and other staff as a team.
• Set limits and intervene to meet student and family needs.
• Provide transportation for community-based students to/from school.
• Perform transportation duties as driver or rider on a van route.
• Collaborate with counseling/behavioral staff and apply feedback.
• Collect and document behavioral and academic data as directed.
• Provide toileting assistance to students as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
• Represent the agency professionally with stakeholders.
• Complete onboarding requirements within designated time frame.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
